HackitzLabs is an independent software and technology project created by Kevin L. Covey in Niagara, Ontario, Canada.
Hackitz began more than 20 years ago as a computer repair and personal technology website. Over time it grew into a home for troubleshooting guides, customization projects, downloads, mobile experiments and the things learned from actually working with technology, hardware and software.
Today, HackitzLabs builds practical Android apps, browser extensions, self-hosting tools and desktop utilities designed around real-world needs. The approach is deliberately simple: fairly priced, no subscriptions, no ads, no nagging — software built to earn your trust rather than compete for your attention.
The goal hasn’t changed in twenty years: create useful technology, explain it clearly, and skip the unnecessary complexity.
What HackitzLabs builds
- Android apps — focused mobile tools for everyday tasks (JustMail, Korvex, OMV Companion).
- Browser extensions — small utilities that improve common workflows (ReTab, qBittorrent Web Downloader, AI Content Guardian).
- Self-hosting & desktop tools — companion apps for private home-server setups and hands-on projects.
- Guides & experiments — straightforward, tested write-ups drawn from real projects.
